T\u00e9moignages poignants de ceux qui, hier encore, \u00e9taient les ma\u00eetres du temps.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Dans le silence feutr\u00e9 d\u2019une \u00e9choppe poussi\u00e9reuse du quartier Dj\u00e8gan-Kp\u00e8vi, un homme, le regard perdu dans les entrailles d\u2019un r\u00e9veil d\u00e9soss\u00e9, remonte inlassablement le ressort d\u2019un m\u00e9canisme fatigu\u00e9. Il s\u2019appelle Marcel Ad\u00e9gbidi. \u00c2g\u00e9 de 72 ans, il fut pendant quatre d\u00e9cennies l\u2019un des horlogers les plus r\u00e9put\u00e9s de Porto-Novo. \u00ab\u202f\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, dit-il en souriant, les gens venaient de Cotonou pour que je leur r\u00e9pare leur montre suisse. Maintenant, m\u00eame les montres chinoises, plus personne ne veut les r\u00e9parer. On jette, on remplace.\u202f\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>L\u2019art oubli\u00e9 du temps<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Dans les ann\u00e9es 1980 et 1990, l\u2019horlogerie faisait flor\u00e8s dans la capitale. Des ateliers s\u2019\u00e9grenaient le long des rues du centre-ville, de Ouando \u00e0 Avassa, de Z\u00e8b\u00e8 \u00e0 Houinm\u00e8. Le bruit r\u00e9gulier des balanciers et le cliquetis des tournevis rythmaient les journ\u00e9es des artisans du temps. Mais aujourd\u2019hui, ces sons ont disparu, \u00e9touff\u00e9s par les bips des t\u00e9l\u00e9phones intelligents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00ab\u202fLes jeunes ne portent plus de montres, pourquoi le feraient-ils\u202f? Leur t\u00e9l\u00e9phone donne l\u2019heure avec plus de pr\u00e9cision que n\u2019importe quelle Rolex,\u202f\u00bb explique, fataliste, Jonas Toko, ancien horloger reconverti depuis peu dans la vente de chargeurs solaires. \u00ab\u202fJe ne gagne plus rien avec l\u2019horlogerie. Il faut bien vivre.\u202f\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Un m\u00e9tier menac\u00e9, une m\u00e9moire en p\u00e9ril<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Aux encablures du march\u00e9 Ouando, autrefois bastion des r\u00e9parateurs de pendules murales, seuls deux \u00e9tals r\u00e9sistent encore. Sous un parasol \u00e9lim\u00e9, S\u00e9raphin Houngb\u00e9dji, 66 ans, nettoie le cadran d\u2019une vieille montre \u00e0 quartz. \u00ab\u202fJe ne fais plus que \u00e7a pour les vieux clients\u2026 ou pour les nostalgiques. Mais les pi\u00e8ces se font rares. Les fournisseurs ont disparu. Et il n\u2019y a plus d\u2019apprentis. Le m\u00e9tier meurt avec nous.\u202f\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00c0 la Chambre des M\u00e9tiers de Porto-Novo, on reconna\u00eet le d\u00e9clin sans pouvoir y apporter de solution concr\u00e8te. Le dernier atelier de formation en horlogerie remonte \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de quinze ans. \u00ab\u202fC\u2019est un savoir-faire qui se perd, faute de rel\u00e8ve. Aucun jeune ne veut passer des heures \u00e0 r\u00e9parer un m\u00e9canisme alors qu\u2019un smartphone fait tout,\u202f\u00bb confie un responsable sous couvert d\u2019anonymat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Un patrimoine immat\u00e9riel \u00e0 sauvegarder<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Pourtant, certains pensent qu\u2019il est encore temps de sauver ce m\u00e9tier. \u00c0 travers des projets de valorisation du patrimoine artisanal, la mairie de Porto-Novo envisage de recenser les anciens horlogers, afin de pr\u00e9server leur savoir \u00e0 travers des expositions, des documentaires ou des ateliers m\u00e9moriels. \u00ab\u202fCe sont des hommes qui ont donn\u00e9 leur vie \u00e0 une science noble et minutieuse. On ne peut pas les laisser dispara\u00eetre dans l\u2019oubli g\u00e9n\u00e9ral,\u202f\u00bb estime un cadre du service du d\u00e9veloppement local.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Mais face \u00e0 la modernit\u00e9 galopante, l\u2019avenir de l\u2019horlogerie b\u00e9ninoise semble scell\u00e9. \u00ab\u202fJe continuerai \u00e0 r\u00e9parer les montres tant que mes yeux me le permettront, conclut Marcel Ad\u00e9gbidi, avec une voix douce, mais d\u00e9termin\u00e9e. Un jour, peut-\u00eatre, quelqu\u2019un viendra frapper \u00e0 ma porte pour apprendre.
